Chas Pulido

Chas Pulido is an abstract artist based in San Francisco with studios in the city and Napa Valley.

At an early age, Chas exhibited his zeal and creativity for visual arts. His paintings, as well as his glass blown pieces, were bold, colorful, and full of movement. One of his early paintings was adopted as the label for his family’s Olive Oil brand — for which he was awarded a coveted International Mobius Award, often referred to as the Oscars of design.

Nowadays, Chas’ art delves into the world of action painting popularized by Jackson Pollock using the “drip technique” of pouring and splashing paint onto a horizontal canvas surface. As a self-taught artist, Chas developed his own unique style of splatter painting using the full force of his whole body, often in a dancing style, to create unique patterns. In addition, he uses normal household items from paper towels, dustpans, mops, and spatulas to compliment specialized Egbert brushes to splatter paint onto the canvas and create his signature high volume textures. His commitment to exploring and evolving his art through bold experimentation highlights his drive for innovation. His paintings often represent vibrant energetic abstract visuals using a multitude of colors to depict flowers, water, trees, and many more designs found in nature. His art is also shaped by the rich tapestry of his life experiences — diving, cooking, hiking, and traveling the world which provide a well founded source for his creativity, as well as provide an added depth to his work.

In addition to his passion for art, Chas balances his time as a Venture Capitalist where he invests in early-stage Life Science startups developing new medicines and promoting patient impact. For his work, he was recognized as a member of Forbes 30 under 30.

After overcoming a brain tumor, Chas faced another challenge — developing Fibromyalgia, a chronic autoimmune condition. Yet, he refuses to let illness define him. His journey through chronic pain and his resilience is reflected in the boldness, vibrancy, and growth of his artwork. A passionate advocate for those battling chronic conditions, Chas believes perseverance can transform obstacles into opportunities, proving that no setback is greater than the pursuit of one’s dreams.
